The Ann Arbor T-shirt Company, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan (about 40 miles west of Detroit), is composed of dozens of artists, screen printers, art techs, logistics professionals, embroiderers, and support staff. We proudly design, print, and embroider the majority of our products completely in-house.

Our company was founded as a dorm room project between two friends at the University of Michigan. What makes our products unique is that we provide our employees with fair wages, healthcare, 401k matches, and catered meals. Additionally, the machines, inks, and most inputs we use are U.S.-sourced, and our shirts are mostly made of U.S.-grown cotton. Producing in-house allows us to maintain high quality and keep prices low.

We love giving people fun ways to express themselves and strike up conversations with their neighbors. Our illustrators and designers create the artwork, which art techs then convert into component screens. Skilled screen printers and their apprentices apply the ink through these screens using top-of-the-line M&R carousel presses manufactured in Illinois.

When you buy one of our shirts, your money is distributed across the country: 35% in Ann Arbor for design, printing, and production; 22% in Seattle for advertising and platform fees; 6% in Cincinnati for apparel distribution; 4% in Atlanta for shipping and logistics; 4% in Roselle, Illinois for printing presses and equipment; 4% in Texas and the Southwest for cotton farming; 3% in Toluca, Mexico for fabric sewing; and 1% in Pineville, North Carolina for screen printing inks.

Screen printing is an intricate process, and we take great pride in getting it right. That's why we hire, train, and retain skilled professionals through our internal apprentice and educational programs. We also use top-quality QCM inks, which are more environmentally friendly, vibrant, and durable than cheaper alternatives.

Investing in the best equipment, like the M&R screen printing presses made in Illinois, allows our printers to work efficiently with less waste, enabling us to create high-quality products at a lower cost that we can pass on to you.

Our model photos feature the actual shirts on our sales representative, Rich, who is 6'2" and 200 lbs and wearing a large. The shirts are a soft, smooth, ringspun, 30/1 fine jersey knit made with 90% U.S.-grown cotton and 10% polyester for a two-tone effect. They are pre-shrunk but will still shrink slightly in the wash.
